Condensed Milk

$135

Introduction Condensed Milk is a dark brew with a bitterly sweet dash of sugar. Initially spicy, warm, and lightly roasted and caramelized. At its heart is a richer, deeper, and nutty aroma. At its core is an acrid, pungent scent of sweetness. Sugar—a silent killer.

About Tamil milkmen traded fresh milk, but they were driven out by monopolies such as Nestlé. French advertisements depicted pale Vietnamese people telling dark-skinned Tamil milkmen that fresh milk smells like a "hairy goat," encouraging Vietnamese consumers to buy canned, sweetened condensed milk as a sign of modernity and whiteness. Overtime, Tamil milkmen were eventually pushed out as the demand for canned milk increased.

An unknown source later published a notice, claiming that "if you drank milk in Vietnam between 1965 and 1972, you ingested Agent Orange and a variety of other herbicide residues." In modern day Vietnam, sweetened condensed milk is commonly added to iced coffee drinks.
